Superintendent Dr. Nick Weillette described the plan as a five‑year roadmap organized around four focus areas: educational excellence, operations, well‑being, and partnerships. The plan retains the district’s mission, vision and values while changing the structure from audience‑based pillars to these operational focus areas. Administrators said the plan was informed by community conversations in 2024 that involved about 150 participants and that leadership mapped initiatives to the plan with timelines and responsible teams.
Administrators explained how the plan connects to annual goal setting: district, department and building goals will be tied to initiatives in the strategic plan and each goal will have a scorecard with baseline data and quarterly milestones. The district emphasized an outcome‑based approach: implementation of curriculum is a process measure, with the actual success measured by student achievement targets. The plan includes initiatives such as a district‑wide expansion of Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA K–5), an expansion of secondary math implementation (geometry and algebra 2), and new career/technical offerings including a welding academy articulated with Northwood Technical College.
Board members praised the plan’s clarity and usability and asked about reporting cadence; administrators said they will report progress annually and tie year‑end results to the strategic plan’s milestones. The administration also said they will publish scorecards and action plans so the public can track progress.
The board did not adopt the plan at this meeting; administrators presented the draft and asked for feedback and indicated they will use the plan as the basis for annual goalsetting and scorecard reporting.
