Trustee, District 6, warned that after a recent storm a resident in that district reported three different roofing companies knocking on the same door within three days and described some company representatives as “very aggressive.” The trustee told residents that the village requires a permit for door-to-door solicitation, advised residents to ask solicitors for a village permit, and to call the nonemergency police number to report unpermitted or aggressive solicitation. The trustee recounted an interaction in which a solicitor told a homeowner, “you need a new roof, and I’m gonna go up there and inspect it,” and said residents should be wary of claims that companies will handle insurance matters for them.
Village clerk Ben reported that early voting is available at the Oak Lawn Public Library through Monday, March 31, and that as of the end of the previous day, 733 residents had voted early. He said there are roughly 40,000 registered voters in Oak Lawn and reminded residents that Election Day is Tuesday, April 1. Early voting hours were given in the meeting record: Saturday 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m.–4 p.m., and Monday 9 a.m.–7 p.m.
