At its meeting the City of Fenton Board of Aldermen approved several routine items by voice vote and authorized an executive session on legal and personnel matters.
Specialty Mailing Incorporated contract renewal: The board approved a one-year renewal with Specialty Mailing Incorporated to provide printing services for the city’s monthly newsletter. Staff said the rate increased by about $60 per month and inserting the newsletter adds another $20. Alderman Brightcheff moved to accept the contract; Alderman Mazurang seconded. The motion carried.
Volunteer appreciation gift cards: Staff reported a survey of committee and commission volunteers found 24 of 24 respondents preferred a $100 gift card in lieu of a sit-down appreciation dinner; staff sought authorization to purchase gift cards at $100 each for a total cost of $2,400 (the current budget line was $5,000). Alderman Brightcheff moved to approve the gift cards; Alderman Claus seconded. The motion carried.
Executive session: The board voted to go into executive session under cited rules for legal actions and individually identifiable personnel records and for bid/proposal confidentiality until openings or contract execution. Alderman Claus moved; Alderman Hills seconded. Roll call was taken and the motion carried.
Why it matters: These votes finalize routine vendor services and volunteer recognition spending; the executive session vote initiates a closed session on specified legal and personnel matters.
What remains: Staff to execute the Specialty Mailing renewal, purchase volunteer gift cards, and proceed to the authorized executive session.
