"My reading is Meyer did their homework," an alderman said during the discussion.
Board members described the two vendor responses as different in approach; some aldermen favored Meyer’s itemized per-unit pricing and maximum price cap rather than Bates’s higher lump-sum number. One alderman said he would prefer a clearer materials specification from Bates if the board considered that bid.
The motion to select Meyer Electric passed. The board asked staff to check lead times and coordinate technical details with in-house maintenance staff and the city’s electrical contacts.
