Board clears park repairs and permits for 5K, sets quotes for Fabick Nature Preserve work

Alderman Hills, speaking as liaison to parks and recreation, presented committee recommendations on park maintenance and event approvals that the Board of Aldermen approved by voice vote.

The board approved a motion to investigate fence repair or replacement and tuck‑pointing maintenance for masonry walls in the Fabick Nature Preserve area and authorized staff to obtain quotes. Hills moved the motion and it was seconded by Alderman Clause; the chair declared the motion carried.

The board also approved the parks committee’s recommendation to obtain quotes for forestry cutting services for city parks; that motion carried on voice vote after a second by Clause. Hills noted the city’s efforts to remove dead and diseased trees and complete stump removals as part of ongoing work.

On events, the board granted Legacy of Patriots Inc. a special‑use permit for a 5K and food truck in Fenton City Park, following discussion in committee; the motion was moved by Hills and seconded by Clause and carried by voice vote.

Other capital updates presented in committee and noted by the board included continued work on concrete slab replacement in subdivisions, renovation of Budweil Pavilion and stairs, delivery and installation of restroom facilities at Fabick Nature Preserve anticipated in May, completion of pickleball court lighting and related activation timing, and ongoing tuck‑pointing at City Hall and public‑works buildings.
