In an administrative report, a staff member said the village received strong resident feedback on a preliminary road-diet proposal and emphasized process steps: "when WVK Engineering does further research into the road diet process, the engineering that will go to IDOT for review, that is the intent is to bring it back to the board first before it ever goes to IDOT," the staff member said.
The staff member also said public works scheduled valve replacements to occur ahead of IDOT's paving to avoid ripping up newly paved roadways. "So we were able to get that done, you know, a month or 2 before they pave it. So now we won't have to rip up a new road to do it," the staff member said.
The transcript records that the board authorized further study but does not show a formal vote on any final road-diet design or an application to IDOT; the next step is a committee-of-the-whole review when engineering is complete.
