Resident thanks Glendale Heights board after traffic-safety changes; staff credited with on-the-ground work

John Horak, a Glendale Heights resident of 53 years, addressed the Village of Glendale Heights board during public comment at the March 6 committee meeting to thank trustees and staff for traffic‑safety work near his home.
Horak said short‑, medium‑ and long‑term solutions discussed with the mayor, the village administrator and the police chief after previous incidents resulted in tangible changes, including added parkway protections and relocation of a stop sign. Horak said the changes made him and his wife feel safer in their living room and expressed appreciation for follow-up by trustees and public‑works staff.
Trustees and staff on the dais credited line staff for the work. Village staff members Vince Casada and Matt Frew were named in the meeting record as responsible for on‑the‑ground improvements to the parkway and for installing protective measures.
The resident also said he hopes a longer‑term reconfiguration of the street will reduce traffic flow through the area; the board did not take a formal vote on further changes at the meeting.
