Lori (subcommittee lead) said past conversations left the commission with pieces of a potential grant package — candidate job descriptions, lists of potential sponsors and a concept for a volunteer coordinator — but that staff and some commissioners wanted a clear internal agreement on scope before the group approaches funders. Commissioners agreed the next step is to assemble a concise package: a proposed scope, an outline of likely expenses and a list of potential sponsors to take to city staff (including the deputy city manager and city manager) for a determination of city appetite and available grant‑writing support.

Commissioners and staff noted grant timelines and the need to tailor proposals to different funders’ priorities; they emphasized that the city’s grant resources and other commissions’ priorities will be considered. Members suggested the subcommittee meet offline to produce a short “meat-and-potatoes” package so staff can quickly review whether to pursue external funding and whether city grant resources will help.

Commissioners agreed to prepare a proposal for discussion at the next meeting and to include staff (James and Scott were named in discussion) in preliminary reviews. No grant application was submitted at the meeting.
