The resident, who identified himself as Stefan, said he has procured some contacts and plans to create photos, drawings or a demonstration piece to show businesses and gauge interest. "I don't wanna seem like a scammer going to all these offices," he said, and asked whether he could represent that the city was “also looking at this” while he solicits business participation.
A staff member, identified in the meeting as David, replied: approval would be required if the project used public land and that other departments would need to weigh in. David said the Arts Commission could “give you the green light” to pursue the idea but cautioned that a commission endorsement would not guarantee council approval or funding.
Commission members suggested the project come back to the Arts Commission as a formal agenda item once Stefan has more detailed materials (cost, timeline, installation plan). Staff also mentioned planned roundtable discussions with business districts to build collaboration; commissioners suggested the project could be discussed in those sessions or in a future commission agenda slot.
The resident said his near‑term plan is to assemble visual materials and contact artists and photographers to develop a demonstrator, with an informal goal of having work started by the end of the year, though he said the timeline is uncertain. The commission asked him to provide written contact information and a brief project description to be included with future agenda planning.
