Sustainability Commission launches resources site and schedules events including EcoEd series and Webster on Wheels

City staff and commission members presented a newly launched sustainability webpage and reviewed a slate of public programs and community outreach events during the Webster Groves Sustainability Commission meeting.
Staff member Sean showed the commission the live site, which organizes content around the plan’s four focus areas in the Forever Webster sustainability plan and links to local programs such as residential solar rebates, single-stream curbside recycling, and the Rippl eGlass program. The site also links to community resources (Ameren, Rewiring America, Saint Louis Recycle Coach) and lists stormwater cost-share programs through Deer Creek and MSD.
Commissioners discussed the website’s mobile display (staff noted a mobile glitch to be fixed) and asked staff to circulate links and materials. Sean said there will be a special Earth Day social media post to promote the site.
Commissioners confirmed event schedules and volunteer roles: Webster on Wheels is set for May 3, with volunteers staffing a kickoff table and a midway snack station; EcoEd programs were announced for May 7 (Arbor Day), June 4 (recycling), July 2 (native plants with Scott Woodbury), September (Green Space presentation) and October 1 (dark skies). The commission also considered two candidate dates for a parking-lot EV car show or similar outreach event—May 31 and June 21—and prioritized May 31 while keeping June 21 as a backup.
Commissioners noted logistics, including concerns about heat for an outdoor parking-lot event in June and the need to confirm police or facility availability. The commission has budget approval to purchase snacks and small giveaways for events; actual giveaway items were discussed with an emphasis on sustainable, useful items.
