The Webster Groves Architectural Review Board approved renovations at 219 Newport Avenue and included a design request that the posts beneath a rear deck be wrapped to match the porch columns above.
Homeowner Mike Settlemeisel spoke for the project and agreed with the board’s suggestion. Board member Carol Dunkey described the suggestion as “not a requirement” but said wrapping the posts would provide “a little more balance.” The homeowner told the board he supported adding the wrap.
A motion to approve the project with the understanding that the posts beneath the deck will be wrapped to match the width of the columns above passed on an affirmative vote.
No additional conditions or formal requirements beyond the wrapping suggestion were recorded in the board’s motion.
