Commissioners reviewed recent outreach events and confirmed several upcoming public events: a stormwater-focused EcoEd session in September at Brownwood Park (hosted with Brentwood and MSD involvement), an Arbor Day planting and ceremony on May 7 with about 20 trees to be planted and a young-tree care presentation by Billy Hague, and a volunteer honeysuckle sweep on April 26 at Lorraine Davis Park starting at 8 a.m.
Members reported a successful recent EcoWet event with 23–25 attendees despite the scheduled speaker’s absence; the group discussed rescheduling that presenter for July or August. The September EcoEd will include speakers from MSD and the engineering team that designed Brentwood Park’s stormwater solutions, and the session is planned to include refreshments and networking.
The commission noted volunteer tree plantings at Marbury Park and additional park plantings planned depending on turnout. Staff will post sign-up links on the city website and provide logistics (parking, check-in locations) for volunteer groups.
Commissioners asked to distribute flyers, social-media posts, and local-paper notices to advertise events and encourage institutional participation.
