City and BDC updates: council work session, comprehensive plan posting, legislative coffee and police safety symposium

City staff and the Business District Commission (BDC) provided several calendar and planning updates at the March 25 meeting.
Staff reminded members the commission will present its budget and updates at a City Council work session on May 6. A preliminary comprehensive plan report has been delivered and is expected to be available on the city's website for review. The BDC reported a legislative coffee scheduled for April 10 at 8 a.m. at the Samantha Recreation Center; the speaker will be the government affairs representative from Greater St. Louis Inc., who will discuss potential state tax legislation and implications for businesses.
The police department and the Police Community Engagement Board (PCEB) will host a public safety symposium on May 8 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the New York Center; staff said the event will cover topics such as locking cars and personal safety when walking at night. Staff indicated these events will be publicized on the city website and social channels. The commission confirmed its next meeting is scheduled for April 22 at 8 a.m.
