On the FY26 budget, the commission reported no substantive new revisions in the current draft. One previously flagged item was being handled, and staff said they will incorporate the commission’s markups and circulate finalized figures. A commission member said the budget will be updated if construction-year items require changes; otherwise no further revisions were identified at the meeting.
City planning updates: city staff announced the planning office will resume Tuesday hours effective April 1 to better serve applicants and the public. City staff said they are working to streamline processes and will communicate updates to district stakeholders.
Property and nuisance issues: commissioners discussed a longtime lease and maintenance concerns at a railroad-owned building used by the Railroad Club. Meeting participants said the Railroad Club holds a long lease on the building; commissioners noted the club is responsible for grounds maintenance and that the business-district organization is not the owner. Staff advised that nuisance complaints and enforcement would be handled through code-enforcement channels directed at the leaseholder or property owner.
Other small updates: commissioners exchanged status notes on pending commercial spaces and on a local operator (Betty) planning an event space and coffee shop with a conditional use permit; staff will monitor licensing and hearing dates. The commission also noted ongoing coordination with neighboring business districts on signage, baskets and lighting to create consistent streetscape elements.
Administrative: the commission confirmed its next meeting date (April 16) and asked staff to circulate a shared Google/PDF packet of streetscape preferences and prior design materials before the next meeting.
