Commissioners noted that a larger push on decorative rooftop lighting is expected after additional funding is secured.
On signage, members discussed pedestrian wayfinding and decorative parking signs. Commission members said installation and the design approach require additional review; staff discussed testing whether public works can cut vinyl sign stickers but noted the shop's cutter may lack the needed precision, and staff recommended inspecting the equipment before committing to that approach.
Budget requests for fiscal 2026 were reviewed. The commission recommended raising the professional services line to $7,000 (a 5% increase referenced in the minutes) and submitted special requests that include $7,500 for signage. Members discussed using reserves to fund some projects if needed and noted prior removal of ongoing rooftop lighting from last year’s budget because of revenue constraints; the commission added back ongoing rooftop lighting in its special requests for FY26. The commission will present this package at a work session with the City Council on May 6.
