Planning staff asked the Planning Commission to help recruit volunteers for a citizen advisory committee (CAC) that will assist with an update to the city’s Transportation System Plan (TSP).
"Members will help ensure that community perspective and concerns are considered in the development of updating the TSP," said Joy, a planning staff member. She said the CAC will include a reserved seat for a representative from the transit commission and up to 15 citizen members. The TSP update is scheduled to run from April through November 2026, with CAC meetings typically held quarterly beginning in May.
Joy told commissioners the CAC will "include discussions on transportation challenges, future needs, and potential solutions," and that the committee will be identifying projects rather than addressing land-use changes. She also noted that Sherwood West must go through a comprehensive plan process "because we just went through the concept plan," and that the comprehensive plan will identify zoning (quote truncated in transcript).
Several commissioners expressed interest in serving. One commissioner said, "Not jumping up, but I am very interested. My term is up before the decision, so I think we'd have to make some clarifications as to whether I can volunteer."
