Sherwood council converts Traffic Safety Committee into board, adopts ordinance

The Sherwood City Council on May 6 unanimously adopted Ordinance 2025-002, converting the Traffic Safety Committee into a Traffic Safety Board and amending provisions of the Sherwood Municipal Code. The council voted by roll call after a brief staff presentation and no public testimony.

The change, presented by city staff member Sebastian, was described as primarily intended to provide the new advisory body with access to legal counsel and to adjust membership language in the municipal code. Sebastian said he had made “slight amendments” to the ordinance following council feedback at an earlier hearing.

The motion passed.

The ordinance amends the code section cited in the hearing notice, listed in the ordinance caption, and places the Traffic Safety Board under the city’s board structure with the revised membership language presented by staff.

The council’s action completes the second public hearing on this ordinance; staff and the council may implement membership and procedural changes consistent with the ordinance language.
