The applicant, Antonio Triplett, told commissioners the operation uses a second tent for sheltering the fryer when it rains and that the vendor already operates in other counties; he said Messy Betty’s serves smash burgers and chicken sandwiches and expects most customers to walk from the recreation center parking area rather than form a drive-through queue.
Staff said the property has a large parking supply (estimated roughly 160–170 spaces from earlier site plans) and that the tent’s limited footprint and intermittent schedule reduce concerns about traffic overflow and noise. Commissioners moved and passed the special use permit; the commission recorded the vote as “Ayes have it.”
