The board approved an amendment to the city's adopted 2024 budget to cover mandatory debt-service "waterfall" transfers and other end-of-year adjustments and then adopted a separate ordinance amending the 2025 budget to roll forward capital projects and update 2025 projections. The board took final votes on both measures after reading them twice.
The board voted to repeal section 94-11 of the Branson Municipal Code, removing the city's standalone tree-preservation ordinance; staff said trees remain protected under other chapters (landscape, stormwater and BMP provisions). That repeal passed after a unanimous planning commission recommendation and support from city staff.
On a separate item, the board approved a resolution to add a logo to the RecPlex water tower. After discussion and a 5-1 roll-call vote to amend the resolution to use the Branson Pirates mascot (the amendment recorded Alderman Denham as the lone "no"), the amended resolution passed.
Two items were postponed or moved for later consideration: members pulled an item from the consent agenda for more staff conversation about the cooperative agreement with the downtown Community Improvement District (CID), and the final reading of the ordinance to extend the downtown CID's term (Bill 65-28) was postponed to the next legislative session so staff and the CID can negotiate the scope and expenditures. Separately, the board agreed to delay action on a slate of appointments to two CIDs until a May 13 meeting at the request of Alderman Schultz.
