Branson planning changes ease rules for food‑truck courts; first reading passes

The Board of Aldermen approved on first reading a package of code amendments intended to make it easier to operate food‑truck courts in Branson.
Amanda, a planning staff member, said the changes originated as part of the city’s “red tape” initiative and the planning commission recommended the amendments. Proposed revisions remove minimum and maximum food‑truck counts for a court, relax zoning setback and minimum seating requirements, clarify that alcohol sales must follow existing municipal code, provide flexibility on grease interceptor requirements and allow more flexible treatment of exhaust hoods and fire suppression specifics where appropriate. Signage is to follow current municipal code, Amanda said.
The planning commission considered the changes and forwarded them to the board with a recommendation for approval. Amanda said the commission’s vote was recorded as unanimous. Aldermen thanked staff and singled out Alderman Ralph for hands‑on work with operators. An alderman reported the Branson Area Lodging Association had expressed appreciation for staff’s proactive approach.
The bill passed its first reading by voice vote. Staff will prepare the ordinance for subsequent reading(s) and publication as required by municipal procedure.
