The Gautier City Council on Feb. 18 approved a planning commission recommendation to grant a variance reducing the side‑yard setback for an accessory building at 8216 Meadowdale Drive (GPC‑25‑01‑VAR).
Planning director Scott Anderson said the request, filed by Robert McDonald, sought a 4‑foot‑5‑inch variance to R‑1 single‑family residential side‑yard requirements. Councilman College moved to accept the planning commission’s recommendation and approve the variance; Councilman Gala/Goa seconded and the motion carried.
Council members noted the presence of a city lift station adjacent to the property and said the reduced setback would not directly impact other residential property owners. No public commenters spoke in opposition at the meeting. Staff recorded the planning commission recommendation in the meeting packet and the council approved the variance by voice vote.
The planning department will proceed with any permit review steps needed to implement the variance.
