The Cape Girardeau City Council approved its consent agenda May 5, taking up multiple routine items including demolition contracts and zoning ordinances, and confirmed several board and commission appointments.
Council voted to approve the consent agenda by voice vote. After the vote, a councilmember asked that their vote be recorded as an abstention on bill 25-49; the abstention was noted on the record.
The council approved three appointments to the Board of Adjustment โ Larry Caldwell, Jordan Drury and Richard Note โ with the term lengths recommended by the board. Jared Hanley was appointed to the Golf Course Advisory Board. The council also appointed Ryan Essex and Kevin Grieser to the TIF Commission.
The consent agenda included multiple ordinances and actions listed by staff, among them acceptance of easements and authorization of demolition contracts for properties at 4221 John E. Goodwin Jr. Memorial Drive and 1424 William Street (resolutions authorizing contracts were recorded as bill 25-54 and bill 25-55 respectively). The council took no separate roll-call votes on those consent items beyond the overall consent vote.
These items were presented as routine and moved forward as part of the consent agenda; any member wishing to remove an item for separate discussion could do so under council rules but no items were pulled at this meeting.
