Liberty council approves a series of contracts, grants and projects; all votes unanimous

The Liberty City Council on April 14 approved a batch of ordinances, resolutions and agreements covering vendor payments, public-works contracts, grants, sponsorships and small capital items. Council members voted unanimously on each item; most measures were approved after the council moved to waive the usual rules and consider items on first reading.

Key approvals included contracts or ordinances to: acknowledge vendor payments for March 14–April 4; a demolition and door-replacement contract not to exceed $30,000; material testing services for a traffic-signal/intersection project ($38,070); traffic-signal upgrades at a second intersection ($45,562.40); laboratory services at the wastewater treatment plant (not to exceed $45,000); wastewater properties work for calendar years 2025–2026 ($60,800); and a three-year sponsorship agreement with the Liberty Hospital Foundation for a half-marathon/10K/5K series (not to exceed $30,000).

The council also accepted grant funding from the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority to buy a 12-passenger bus for the Liberty Parks and Recreation Department’s Access Transportation Program, approved the acceptance of a completed traffic-signal project with Capital Electric Line Builders, Inc., and approved design and construction-phase…
