The Wayne City Council voted Feb. 18 to approve a site plan for a collision-repair shop at 3445 Mildred, authorizing an approximately 1,870-square-foot addition to an existing 1,970-square-foot building.
Planning staff told the council the parcel is zoned I.B. (Industrial) and that the planning commission reviewed the application and unanimously recommended approval subject to 14 conditions. The project includes the existing building plus the proposed addition and provides what staff described as ample parking.
A planning staff member told council, “This is zoned I. B. Industrial, so it is an appropriate use.” The staff presentation included an aerial and an exhibit showing the existing building and the proposed addition.
The site-plan approval was conditioned on the 14 items the planning team recommended; staff did not list the conditions at length during the meeting. Council members asked whether the applicant had any problems with the conditions; the applicant did not object. The council voted to approve the site plan; the motion passed unanimously.
The petitioner, identified in the meeting as Ayad Elzir, attended the meeting. The council’s approval moves the project forward to the building-permit stage, subject to the planning conditions and any required permitting.
