At its Jan. 6 meeting the Currituck County Board of Commissioners approved several routine items and adopted a brief resolution of appreciation for U.S. Rep. Greg Murphy.
Actions approved by voice vote included: reappointments and new appointments to the planning board and board of adjustment, adoption of a resolution thanking Rep. Greg Murphy for his service to the county (following redistricting), and approval of the consent agenda. The commissioners removed the proposed balloon‑release ordinance from the consent agenda for separate consideration and requested that a proposed ban on intentional mass balloon releases be placed on the Jan. 21 agenda when a full board is expected to attend.
The board also approved board appointments in a single motion and accepted the consent agenda as amended. Commissioners moved and seconded the motions; all procedural votes carried by voice vote.
