The Trenton City Council voted unanimously Monday to forward $298,188.11 in delinquent water and sewer accounts and $8,698 in miscellaneous receivables to the city treasurer for placement on the 2025 city tax roll.
City Controller Cooper told the council the submission was made “in accordance with the city of Trenton City Code,” and asked for a motion to place the attached lists on the tax roll. The council moved and supported the action and approved it unanimously.
Controller Cooper provided the totals and said the reports will be forwarded to the treasurer for inclusion on the city’s tax roll. Council members asked whether the total was higher or lower than prior years; Cooper responded it was “slightly lower” and that many of the same accounts recur.
The action was procedural: the council approved the lists prepared by the city controller’s office. No individual votes were recorded on the transcript; the motion carried unanimously. The council did not discuss any specific properties or accounts during the public motion.
The placement on the tax roll means the amounts will be collected through property tax processes overseen by the city treasurer. The council’s approval referenced the city code as the authority for the action.
Support materials and the detailed lists will be retained in the controller’s office and forwarded to the treasurer as the transcript states.
