Trenton authorizes $38,537 in wastewater equipment work: two centrifuge pumps and Van Horn pump rebuild

The Trenton City Council on Jan. 6 approved wastewater treatment plant requests to replace two aging centrifuge pumps and to rebuild a flight pump at the Van Horn Pump Station.
Julie Wilson (listed in the transcript as Miss Wilson), the city wastewater treatment plant representative, said the existing centrifuge pumps were installed around February 2003'2004 and are approaching 20 years in service; the plant runs one daily with the units rotated. She requested approval to purchase two new centrifuge waste pumps from Hamlet Environmental for $25,642, to be paid from capital improvements. "The two current pumps we have both were put in place around 02/2003, 02/2004, so they're pushing 20 years old," Wilson said.
Wilson also requested authorization to send one remaining flight pump at Van Horn Pump Station out for rebuild (lead time five to six weeks) and recommended contracting Detroit Pump for the rebuild at a cost of $12,895. Both measures were moved, seconded and recorded in the transcript as "unanimously so ordered."
