Trenton hires Fishbeck Engineers for library, Westfield and generator projects at $198,100

The Trenton City Council on Jan. 6 authorized professional services agreements with Fishbeck Engineers totaling $198,100 to design upgrades tied to the city's police, fire and municipal building improvement bond.
Kevin Sargent, the city's Department of Public Services director, told the council Fishbeck will design the library entry upgrade, prepare construction specifications and competitively bid that work; design and inspect structural repairs at the Westfield Center; and design and bid backup generator power for city hall, the Westfield Center and the Department of Public Works. "As part of the police, fire, and municipal building improvement bond, building repairs and upgrades require architectural, structural, and electrical engineering," Sargent said.
Councilmembers moved and seconded the request; the motion was approved and recorded as "unanimously so ordered." The council also authorized the DPW director to sign the proposals on behalf of the city.
The approval covers design-stage work and procurement documents; the transcript shows the council did not vote on construction contracts at this meeting. The Fishbeck engagements are intended to produce specifications and bid-ready packages, after which competitive bids and construction approvals will be required.
