Manchester School District officials told the School Committee on March 24 that construction work will start this spring at Hillside and McLaughlin Middle Schools as part of scheduled addition and renovation projects.
The district scheduled community design-review sessions so families and community members can preview design images and ask questions of the project team: McLaughlin on Tuesday, April 8, from 6 to 7 p.m. at McLaughlin Middle School; Hillside on Wednesday, April 9, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hillside Middle School. District staff said there will be no formal presentation at those events; attendees can review designs and speak individually with the project team.
Officials said the project website will launch soon and that an official groundbreaking will be scheduled at a later date.
Why it matters: Renovation and addition projects can affect school operations, traffic, schedules and local neighborhoods; design sessions provide an early opportunity for families to review plans and raise questions to the project team.
The district did not present final contract awards or a construction schedule at the March 24 meeting; staff said more details would appear on the project website and at the design sessions.
