Planning commission approves amended sign plan for Target at Adams Dairy Landing

The Blue Springs Planning Commission on Jan. 13 approved an amendment to the Adams Dairy Landing master alternative sign plan allowing additional building-mounted signage for the Target store at 1040 Northeast Coronado Drive.
Planning staff said the application proposes two additional building-mounted signs on Target’s north elevation. Staff noted the proposed signs would increase the store’s total sign area but remain within the allowable percentage of the facade; however, the Adams Dairy Landing master sign plan limits the number of signs per facade. Staff recommended amendment of the master alternative sign plan (ASP06081780) with one condition.
Chantelle Fry told commissioners the signs would be acrylic-faced, internally illuminated cabinets consistent with the existing signage, and described the work as a ‘‘face lift’’ to update Target’s signing. The applicant was not present at the hearing; staff answered commissioners’ questions about facade area and how the request fits the master plan.
The motion to approve ASP12-24-9431 carried unanimously. Staff will process the sign permit documents under the amended master sign plan and the one condition attached to the approval.
