The Blue Springs City Council on Jan. 21 approved on first and second reading an ordinance declaring the necessity of acquiring real property for public improvements connected to an extension of public utility services on Coronado Drive.
The ordinance (bill 5287) authorizes the city administrator to negotiate the acquisition of needed interests and, if negotiations fail, to proceed with condemnation. Council voted by roll call; the ordinance was given number 5392 after second reading.
City staff explained the request as necessary to secure rights-of-way and easements to extend utilities; no citizen opposition was recorded during the hearing. The recorded roll-call votes on second reading were all ayes according to the transcript.
