Taylor said she wanted ‘‘some assurance that we're not gonna have that issue’’ similar to problems reported for another jurisdiction. City IT staff member Brown responded that Tyler provides many different government software modules and that the city has used Tyler's InterGov enterprise permitting and licensing software since 2007. Brown said the contract on the agenda would move the city's hosting ‘‘from hosting the servers here physically in City Hall … to having it be cloud hosted, which is, better for upgrades and routine maintenance and also, spares the city the expense of the physical servers while allowing them to also provide better cybersecurity, and it also will help us, with our electronic review permitting software.’’
Brown told the council the modules the city uses are ‘‘completely different’’ from the property‑assessment system used by Jackson County and said the county’s issues did not relate to the city’s use. After the explanation, the council voted to approve the consent agenda item removing item e earlier in the meeting and then approving item e itself; the motion carried and was recorded as approved by roll call.
