The Blue Springs Planning Commission voted April 14 to recommend approval of a conditional use permit to allow Clifton RE LLC to occupy 500 NW R.D. Mize for construction and real-estate office and showroom functions.
Staff findings: Christopher Willis said the applicant met the UDC special-use standards for a building or construction contractor land use and that no deviations were requested. Willis noted the applicant provided 28 parking spaces on site while the use requires 16.
Applicant statement and limits on storage: Rob Clifton, who identified himself as with Clifton RE, said the location will serve as an office, conference and showroom space for investor meetings; he said all equipment, tools, trailers and supplies remain at the applicant’s facility at Truman and I-435 and that no materials will be stored at the R.D. Mize site. "We don't have anything that we store there...just expansion of our office," Clifton said.
Public input and outcome: One nearby resident asked whether large construction trucks or equipment would be stored there; Clifton reiterated the site will be office and showroom. Commissioners voted to recommend approval; the item will be forwarded to City Council for the scheduled hearing noted in the staff report.
Why it matters: The CUP allows an established contractor/real-estate operator to expand office operations in Blue Springs while staff and the applicant confirmed the site will not function as an equipment yard.
