Council continues animal-control service agreements affecting three lake communities to June 2

City staff told the council they had asked the applicants to secure a local shelter and veterinary services as part of arranging animal-control coverage; staff reported the applicants had communicated with staff but had not yet satisfied those requests. The chief of police (speaking at the meeting) said the applicants have not been able to secure the shelter and veterinary arrangements staff requested.
Council members discussed whether delaying the items could leave the communities without coverage, and staff confirmed there was currently no agreement in effect. Council then voted by voice to continue the items to the June 2 meeting to give the applicants additional time to respond and to allow staff to receive the requested information.
The continuance preserves council review while allowing time for applicants to supply the operational details staff identified as necessary for a recommendation.
