Commissioners authorize solicitation of 2–3 bids for courthouse annex security upgrades

County staff reported that the existing panic-button and window security system at a county facility behind the main Stephenville thoroughfare has stopped working and is more than 10 years old. The facility supervisor said several incidents had left clerks uncomfortable and that the system had been unreliable since August.
The court authorized staff to solicit two to three bids or quotes for a replacement security system and return to the commissioners with options. The commissioners emphasized employee safety and followed the county’s procurement practice of obtaining competitive quotes for noncapital purchases. A motion to allow staff to solicit bids passed by voice vote.
No contract was awarded at the meeting; staff were directed to provide returned bids for later approval. A range of preliminary price estimates was discussed in the meeting (approximately $15,000–$25,000), but the court did not commit county funds at this session.
