Erath County Judge Brandon J. Huckabee read and moved approval of a proclamation declaring April 30, 2025, National Therapy Animal Day for Erath County and thanked local therapy-animal teams for their service.
The proclamation notes that Pet Partners designates April 30 as National Therapy Animal Day and describes local volunteers who visit hospitals, nursing homes, schools and hospice settings. Judge Huckabee said the county office was approached by Annie's Therapeutic Animals and that the office wanted to formally recognize the work of local handlers and their animals. Commissioner Buck seconded the motion; the court approved the proclamation by voice vote.
The court did not attach funding or a county program to the proclamation; it is an official recognition only. The commissioners thanked therapy-animal teams for assisting law enforcement, emergency services and health-care providers in difficult situations.
