Board names Nathan Ratliff as district legal services attorney after RFP

The board approved naming Nathan Ratliff (Ratliff & Redwood) as Klamath County SD’s local legal services attorney following an RFP process.
Ratliff introduced himself and said he had taken on matters from the prior long‑time attorney and that Charice from the previous office would continue in a supporting role if the board moved forward. Ratliff said his work for the district would focus on local matters such as property and contract issues and that the district would continue to use specialized education law firms for highly technical school‑law matters.
Board members who had worked with Ratliff on other public‑agency matters said they were comfortable moving forward. The motion to renew/appoint the district’s local legal services with Ratliff (and his firm) was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
