County names two agents for federal mitigation grants and approves USGS joint funding agreement

The board then voted to approve a joint funding agreement with the U.S. Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), which Thorpe described as “an agreement we've had for a long time with them” to maintain and repair river gauges on county waterways. Thorpe said the agreement is a cost share between the county and USGS and that costs increased this year.
Commissioners noted the gauges improve emergency response and provide economic information for fishermen; one commissioner thanked the Tillamook Bay Flood Improvement District for cost-sharing contribution.
