A Wichita broker told Pratt County commissioners she is marketing county-owned land at the corner of Highway 54 and Howard and an adjacent rehab/residence center and asked how to proceed if the county was interested in selling.
“I'm with NAI Martins in Wichita, Kansas…I'm from Kingman, Kansas…I do medical real estate,” Marissa Weber said, describing interest from groups seeking office, retail, apartments or senior housing and offering a broker price opinion to the county at no charge.
County staff reminded the board of the county’s sale process: appraisal must be completed and any county property valued over $50,000 must be put out to public bid before sale. A staff member also said the county would need an appraisal before accepting or rejecting bids, and offered to accept Weber’s materials through the county clerk for follow-up.
Why it matters: The property’s potential reuse for medical, retail or housing development ties to local economic development and the hospital’s facility planning; the commission and the broker agreed to exchange contact information for staff follow-up.
Commission action: No sale or disposition decision was made at the meeting; staff instructed the broker on the appraisal and public-bid requirements and accepted contact information for future discussions.
