The Greeley Liquor Licensing Authority on April 11 approved a new lodging liquor license for the Hampton Inn and Suites (Renaissance Greeley LLC doing business as Hampton Inn and Suites) at 2350 West 20th Street after the city's petition summary showed broad local support.
Liquor Pros owner Eva Garretson testified she contacted 419 businesses, managers and residents in the area and obtained 115 signatures: 50 business signatures (49 in favor, 1 opposed) and 65 residential signatures (58 in favor, 7 opposed). Garretson summarized the petitions as 93 percent in favor overall and told the authority that the opposing signatures did not include written reasons.
City staff reported that planning, code compliance, building, finance, police and the city attorney had no concerns and that submitted fingerprints showed no criminal history for the named owner. Judge Gonzalez said she was satisfied that "the needs and desires have been shown to my satisfaction in that location" and found the applicant of good moral character. The clerk was directed to attach the judge's signature and forward the approved license to the state; the clerk estimated around five business days for state processing.
