Greeley commission approves after-the-fact ADA ramp at Centennial Village Depot, asks museum to standardize appearance

On March 3, 2025, the Greeley Historic Preservation Commission voted unanimously to approve a certificate of approval for an Americans with Disabilities Act ramp installed at the Centennial Village Museum Depot, 1475 East Street (case HPDR2025-0004), with an amendment asking City Museums to modify the ramp’s finish to better match the site’s historic appearance.

Commission staff presented the request during a public hearing after staff found the installation met the city’s historic-preservation criteria. Staff said the project was reviewed under the historic-preservation standards in section 24-1003(j) of the Greeley Municipal Code and the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation and concluded the alteration had a minimal effect on the depot’s character because the prior landing and steps were not original to the building.
