The West Milford Township Board of Education conducted multiple routine votes at its Feb. 18 meeting. The board approved meeting minutes and the agenda, adopted two arts proclamations, and approved grouped items under education, personnel, operations and finance, and policy by roll call.
Education proclamations adopted included a Music in Our Schools Month proclamation and a Youth Art Month proclamation for March; the board recorded the text of both resolutions in the meeting minutes and adopted them by roll call.
The board moved and approved grouped agenda blocks (for example, items 12.2'12.6 under education and items 14.1'14.26 under personnel). Multiple trustees noted routine, recommended abstentions where conflicts or absence applied (for example, an abstention recorded for a board member who was not present for the Jan. 21 meeting). For payroll and some finance items the agenda included recommended abstentions; the board acknowledged that practice and accepted votes with those abstentions applied.
The board also voted to enter executive session for approximately 20 minutes to discuss personnel, litigation, special education, negotiations and attorney-client privileged matters; the board stated no action would be taken after executive session and that executive-session minutes would remain confidential until privilege or confidentiality no longer applies.
Where specific roll-call tallies were recorded the meeting transcript lists trustee responses and named several abstentions. The transcript does not publish full numeric tallies for every grouped motion; minutes will include the official roll-call record.
