Stark State Seeks Reimbursement for CDL Equipment After Prompt Purchase; Board Approves

Kevin Gardner, the college CFO, said the purchases funded replacement of worn trucks and trailers and were part of a capital request approved two years earlier to expand the CDL program. Gardner said dealers would not hold high-demand equipment in 2022, so the college, with prior approval from the Office of Budget and Management leadership, purchased equipment with college funds and then sought reimbursement after completing purchases. He said the new equipment reduced maintenance costs by more than 50% and helps the program continue serving roughly 200–220 students annually.
Board members raised no objections and the item was approved. The transcript does not include a roll-call tally.
