COLUMBUS — The House Ways and Means Committee accepted an amendment to House Bill 133 at its fourth hearing that broadened language on unfair and deceptive insurance practices.
Vice Chair Thomas moved to amend House Bill 133 with AM1360376-3. Explaining the change, he said the amendment “broadens definition of unfair and deceptive practices in the insurance industry, and it prevents, folks from steering, potential customers away from employer provided health plans.”
Committee members had no questions and the amendment was accepted by unanimous consent. The committee concluded the bill’s fourth hearing; no further debate or a final passage vote was recorded during the meeting.
The committee directed members to submitted written proponent testimony, including a packet from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and other insurers, and marked the amendment "for possible amendment" prior to the motion. No opponents provided in-person testimony at the hearing.
