Cypress City presented the first graduates of its Cypress University Level Up digital marketing program and handed plaques to local small businesses that completed the course.
Planning Director Alicia Velasco described the program as a partnership with the Orange County Inland Empire Small Business Development Center. The Level Up curriculum covered website optimization, social media marketing, paid online advertising and digital tools to attract customers. Thirty-two Cypress businesses completed the inaugural class and each received a $2,000 grant to support new online campaigns; the program will continue to provide technical support after graduation.
Velasco said the Level Up program is one of several economic development initiatives the council has launched and that a follow-on “Next Up” business expansion program is planned. Several business representatives came forward to receive plaques and take photographs with the council.
Ending: The city presented plaques and photographs to graduates and said the Small Business Development Center will continue to support the businesses.
