WINCHESTER, Conn. — At the Jan. 21 Board of Selectmen meeting, Town Manager Paul Marino reported that Winchester police increased traffic stops by 19% in 2024 and that the department has begun deploying an unmanned police cruiser to assist speed‑reduction efforts.

He also said the chief had begun deploying an unmanned cruiser as part of speed‑reduction efforts.
Marino told the board that the chief asked that specific enforcement locations be discussed in executive session because disclosing them publicly would reveal enforcement strategy. "He did also want to note that when we are discussing strategy, for speed enforcement, we maybe wanna go into executive session and that we are literally giving our playbook out of particularly where we might be doing speed enforcement," Marino said.
