Commissioners discussed removal of concrete columns from the previous structure; the applicant said those columns would be removed manually and that no heavy machinery would operate on the lake.
The commission accepted application IWWA25-5 for 874 West Wakefield Boulevard and asked staff to add language clarifying that top-of-wall repairs would be limited to no more than 6 feet of the wall face. The commission said this was intended to ensure the proposal did not expand into a full wall reconstruction, which would trigger different permitting and design requirements.
No public hearing was required and the acceptance vote was unanimous. Commissioners encouraged the applicant to meet with staff, submit the revised proposal before the next meeting, and provide clearer drawings and a removal plan for the old columns.
The commission also noted seasonal timing concerns: because the applicant may not mobilize until winter, the permit timeline and posting requirements should reflect actual construction timing.
