Eversource construction on Main Street expected within two weeks; town schedules May 19 informational session

The Town Manager told the Winchester Town Board of Selectmen Monday that Eversource’s Main Street construction is expected to begin within two weeks and that the utility will hold an informational session on May 19 from 6 to 7 p.m. focused solely on construction logistics.
The informational session will include Eversource representatives and will precede the board’s May 19 meeting, the Town Manager said. “Eversource work is scheduled to begin shortly. I still do not have a firm date of when they are going to begin, but it is going to be within the next 2 weeks,” the Town Manager said. He also said the company asked that questions about the public benefit charge not be raised at that session because the representatives attending will address construction only.
The Town Manager said the utility continues outreach to affected residents and businesses, and that temporary signage directing customers to open businesses and parking will be installed a few days before work begins. He said Eversource is still working through state permitting steps and that the town does not yet have a firm start date.
Officials did not take formal action on the project at the meeting. The Town Manager encouraged residents to attend the May 19 session for details on timing, traffic impacts and temporary parking arrangements.
The update follows repeated outreach by the town and the utility; officials said they will share firm start-date information with businesses and residents once permitting and scheduling are complete.
