Planning staff told the Reynoldsburg Planning and Zoning Board on April 3 that the city has issued eight iPads for board use to view application materials, but the city attorney requires the devices remain in the council chamber because board members are not city employees.
Staff asked board members to attempt to log into the CivicPlus portal from home ahead of the next meeting so their notes and markups will be available when they sign into the iPads at the next hearing. Staff said the intent is to pilot the iPads while continuing to provide paper copies; if the pilot goes well staff will reduce the number of printed sets required from applicants.
Planning staff said the change aims to save staff time and cut paper usage; board members were offered the option to request continued paper copies if they are uncomfortable with the digital workflow. The board agreed to try the pilot at the next meeting before any formal change to application submittal requirements is adopted.
