Commissioners approve unofficial detour plans for I-469 bridge overlay at Harbor Ditch

Allen County commissioners on March 21 approved an unofficial detour plan with the Indiana Department of Transportation for bridge deck overlay repairs on two ramps of I-469 at Harbor Ditch west of State Road 1.
Bill Harmon said two separate ramp bridges at the interchange will receive overlays. INDOT asked the county to propose likely local detour routes that nearby drivers might use; INDOT’s official detour routes must be on state routes, so the county proposed additional internal routes as potential alternatives.
Harmon said the county will film the proposed detour routes before construction starts and again after the project finishes; if any repairs are needed to those local roads as a result of the detour traffic, the county will negotiate repairs with INDOT.
A commissioner moved and seconded approval of the unofficial detour; the motion carried by voice vote.
